Is there anyway to not have this program running ??? I've tried crtl=alt=delete and it's listed but it wont close. This program is so more unstable than a postal worker on LSD. I tried to move the program so it would'nt open but realized I have to close it first.
I'm assuming it is only needed if you use "windows explorer", I dont so I want to close it. If anybody knows anything about this stupid explorer let me know. It always causes some error or page fault and then crashes "Internet explorer".
I should note that I'm using Zone Alarm and when I connect with the internet it always ask me permission for Explorer to connect. Is Internet Explorer and Windows explorer somehow intertwined.

Explorer is the heart of windows. Everything else is a skin over it. Shutting Explorer down will close windows. You are stuck.

Well, you're not totally stuck.

I installed it once a long time ago...I don't really remember the experience, but I'm back with explorer.
If you really hate explorer though...this would be the thing to look at.

Can Linux run most common programs or are the choices limited still ????

For the most common things, there's usually a substitute, sometimes poor, sometimes superior.
For browsers you have to use Netscape (DAMNED if Microsoft is going to make a Linux browser http://www.geocities.com/hd580/biggrin.gif ). I haven't tried the newest Netscape, though so it might be better.
For MS Office, there's StarOffice (also free)I haven't used it so I have no real experience but my roomate says it's awesome.
For ICQ, there's LICQ. About the same as the real except Linux apps tend to give you more options. I can add people to my list without notifying them and such. (A real blessing since I'm forever reinstalling)
Also other stuff such as Napster, MP3 players, etc.
Not good for gaming I hear. Not for the faint of heart either. I don't care what you've been told: Installing NT4 and its apps is a cakewalk by comparison.

You're a big Linux, user eh Cmonster? Thought you were BeOS's biggest fan http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. BTW, does BeOS have a command line terminal similar to Linux's terminal? I couldn't find it when I tried it out...

Yes, Be(doesn't come with calculator or decent text editor)OS does have a terminal window and many common Linux/UNIX commands do work.
Do I like BeOS; It is fast and easy to install and configure, but very limited by availability of applications - most of which are not free.
Linux; on the other hand (since Mandrake 7, getting my CDR to work, and Java to sort-of-work in StarOffice), I am a little more enthusiastic about. However, I am just a GUI-user at this time and not an uber-geek yet.
I just instelled Mandrake7 on a HP e-vectra 600MHz PC, dual booting with NT4 on NTFS. Pretty neat.
Only thing is, I cant get any video drivers for the 810 chipset. Bummer.
