Payment methods

I'm an amateur to this section of Sysopt and to online auctions because I never knew (or cared to know) how payments were made. It's not like you send the money to the seller and hope that he sends you the product you just *bought*, or is it??

Warthog, Truthfully how the "payment" and transfer of the goods is between the buyer and the seller. SysOpt/Eathweb has no legal position on it. But for myself I usually ask for cross-shipping for most of my deals as I have come to know most of the people that I deal with and they know me. In cases were I dont know the buyer and they dont have a "background" that is checkable I usually as that they ship first and upon receite of the item I either IMMEDIATELY paypal them or send them a MO depending on what was agreed upon before hand. I some cases I will pay up front (Most risky as the buyer) when they have a checkable background, I am able to get name, addy and phone# and then if the dollars are big enough give them a call before hand....but unfortunately there is people that make a living out of conning people and even with experiance you can be burned.
