I need a pair of these for cheap.....we all know it is not really worht whatsome stores charge......if you can not get them to me cheap I do not need them....it is for a dead end box that does not need alot of loot pumped into it.........just trying to run windows 98 on it(I have a pair of 16 meggers on it now).........need it for the kids(my neighbors).......below is a snippet I took from the acer website pertaining to what kind of ram it takes..........I do not really know anything about these older systems so I am not sure if I can mix and match fastpage and EDO(I do know that they have to be in pairs though) together......if I can not please tell me............anyone that can hook me up please do.

The system memory is upgradable to a maximum of 128MB via 72 pin SIMM sockets on board. These SIMM sockets accept 32MB, 60ns-70ns fast-page or EDO-type DRAM modules in capacities of 4-, 8-, 16-, and 32MB.

Oblivion, does the Acer website specify exactly what type of 72 pin SIMMs your MoBo requires? I only ask because I've had some limited experience with all three types. The decrepit old Compaq that I have (Presario 9546) calls for FPM, Non-Parity and here's what happened to me when I tried mixing a pair of FPM, Non-Parity with a pair of the others:

two 8MB FPM, Non-parity and two 8MB EOD - box wouldn't boot up, nothing at all!

two 8MB FPM, Non-Parity and two 8MB FPM w/parity - On boot up memory check would count WAY, WAY past what was in there and finally lock up with a memory error message.

Hopefully my limited experiences with these may be useful to you.

Hi,
Check and see if you can use FP... I have four 16 meg SIMMS if that will help.
