Thx desmocat 07-19-2000, 11:42 AM We need a little more info to answer your question, but here is a couple of things. If you are using a dial up ISP,you should get a new ip addy everytime you log on. If you are using cable or DSL,your provider must have a DHCP(dynamic host configuration protocol) server that handles that. What a dhcp server does is the ISP is given a range of ip addys and every time someone logs on,your computer says"I need a new IP" and server looks up an available addy and assigns it to your machine. You can see if yours is changing by dailing up then from the run command in start, type winipcfg and note the addy. disconnect, then reconnect later and do the same thing and you can compare the two to see if they change. (ip banned) qball 07-21-2000, 09:52 AM You may need to check your Dial-up properties (actually this is set on your TCP/IP properties) to see if you are obtaining an IP address from your ISP or you have an IP address hard coded. Right click Network Neighborhood and choose Properties. Choose the Protocols tab, highlight TCP/IP and click the Properties button. The IP address tab should have two radio buttons, one for Obtain an IP address and one for Specify an IP. If Specify an IP is selected and the IP address matches the IP address you are getting when connected to your ISP, then you have your problem/solution. IF Obtain an IP adress is selected, then you may be getting the same IP address by pure chance. SysOpt.com
