I don't know what you say.....But...There is a BUNCH of different types of "mounting rails" that have been used over the years. If you truly don't know what kind you need and your local computer store can't help you then I would have to say you must have some sort of papriatary (spelling and "spell check didn't have it!) setup http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif But If all you need is a "generic 3.5 to 5.25 conversion kit (such as whats used to mount a HD or Floppy drive in a cdrom spot I have those for just 4 bucks including the floppy faceplate plus actual shipping charges (usps is the cheapest)

Some pics may help.

If it says Tiger then it may have come from www.tigerdirect.com (http://www.tigerdirect.com)

Also if the case is new take the thing back and get another one that has what you need.

since I'm old, and the case seems like it is old too.

you are talking about the rail that screw on the side of a drive. and than slide into side slots 5.25 inside the opening of the front of the case. just like the 360/720 floppies and the rll/mff harddrives did. in my younger days . Right!!!!

GENE- Nope, This Case is a New ATX case, what I'm talkin about is, a cdrom wont fit in the 5.25 bay with just screws, you need Rails to hold the drive in the bay....

maybe you and I aren't on the same mind trip here.

you screw the rails to the side of the drive??

and than you slide the drive that has the rails screwed onto the sides of the drive into the drive opening. and that is what holds the drive into place ect.

is this right or not????

*********************************************
this is what I was saying in the first place. they were all like that back when I used to build xt's,286,386 and some 486 cases were like that too. and all floppy, hdd, cd-rom's ect. were the same way.

now on with the point at hand. are there slots on the inside of the case for the rails to slide into??
or do the drive and rails just slide into the 5.25 front or rear of the drive case incloseur to hold it into place.

some of them are different l x w x thickness
ect. I'm headed to bed now will get with you later on this. if you don't find some.

How old is the case? If over 2 years, you are most likely screwed, unless it is a compaq case or something like that, I had a compudyne case without the reals, I used black RTV silicone, works just fine.

Yes Gene there are solts for the Rails to slide into

did you solve your problem??
If I understand, what you need are the rails usualy plastic that attach to the side of the drive and slide into the channels that are part of the case. these do not come as part of the case. surprizing a local shop dont have them, I would suggest if you have a few tools, drill, hacksaw and a couple files, go to a hobby shop and get some plastic strip. and make them. not that hard,
my latest case uses neither, the box for drives is just the right width that screws thru rhe side goes right into the drive.
