What video card are you using, cal? If the card is capable of better settings, you need to uninstall and reinstall your drivers.

It's a Diamond stealth 64
so reinstalling the drivers will bring more choices in the display properties
What is the best way to do this?

If you do not have the drivers for your video card, you need to get them before you begin. Go here to get the drivers for your exact model of diamond video card. www.diamondmm.com/products/drivers/driver-index.html (http://www.diamondmm.com/products/drivers/driver-index.html)
Then you can either delete the driver you are using via control panel and reboot, windows should see you video card and ask for the disk provided by the manufacture. Or you can "right click" anywhere on your windows desktop screen, then click properties, then settings, then at the bottom click on advanced properties, then at the adaptor prompt click on the "change" button, then click on "have disk" and put in your driver disk and you should be in business.
