Neither. I'd buy the fastest CDR available ~ 12x? . Media is cheap, time isn't.

Will you use the DVD player? if not, go withthe HP i suppose. I don't use the CDRW portion of my HP 8200i, so my next purchase will be a super fast (maybe even scsi) CDR drive.

Paul ~ SCSI won't make a CDR faster until write speeds skyrocket.

The problem with burners is the weight of the read/write head. Read-only can function much faster because it is simpler.

Go for the Creative. It comes with Nero. Easy CD Creator is flaky. Broke my Win2K install.

I'm a little jaded on creative drives at the moment - went through 2 bad ones 2 weeks ago rebuilding my home system - both relatively new and neither one abused - got so fed up I went out and bought a generic 48 speed CD player to complete the rebuild....

HP CDR/CDRW- I've never had any trouble - they make a solid drive, but it costs a bit more.

can attest to easyCD creator being flaky.... haven't had anything else to play with....
