Thanks for NOT providing a link (wonder why? Chips links can be "fun" to say the least)...mine has always worked fine at least 8 months now...what does the new version provide if you have noticed???

I'm using the Beta 7 and it seems pretty good. Even though I never got to try beta 6 because they banned me for no apparent reason. A good format got rid of them registry codes and now I'm back on Napster. It has changed a lot since Beta 5 though.

Cuckoo's egg, a speed bump at best; it certainly won't stop music Piracy. They're making a critical assumption when they say: It's virtually impossible to tell them from the real thing unless you listen to the MP3 song for a minute or two.

Most Napster users don't do that while they're downloading a song. In many cases, a downloaded song actually won't be listened to for days or weeks.Almost everyone I know listens to it immediately following d/l. The only way it could be massively distributed is if a whole chain of people in a row stored it w/out listening to it. If one person listens to it, they'll delete it.

After thinking about this some more, they would only need about 8-10 seconds of cuckoo to ruin a song and that MIGHT go unnoticed for a long time. Unfortunately that means that they would be distributing a song about 95% intact so that might defeat the purpose.

Also, in order to fight the ongoing piracy on the internet, people would have to be working full-time on this project as new songs come out every week. That overhead has to be considered.

I haven't run across any of those "presents" yet, but have gotten a couple of songs that were only 2-10 seconds long. I thought that if you had a transfer error, it dumped what you had and didn't save it. Hmm..
Been playing with a RIO-600 I got for the G/F for her birthday. It's pretty sweet, and comes with some neat music manager software.
