IDE setup - HD, CDROM-DVD - Advice Please

I am just curious. I am getting a new pioneer slot loading 16X DVD drive and I need to know where to put it. I have a 20.5 GB WD 7200 RPM HD on pri master and a HP 9300i 10X4X32X CDRW as sec. master. Should I put the DVD as pri. slave? Or should I put it on the same channel as the CDRW. Also if I do this, should DVD be master, or should CD-RW be master.

Set the HDD as the P.Master on IDE1. Set the DVD-ROM as S.Master on IDE2 with the CDRW slaved to it. I haven't seen too many DVD-ROMs that like being set in anything other than Master.

I have a DVD ROM as the secondary master with the exact same HP CD Writer as you mention slaved off of it, and so far I have had no problems with this setting - I suggest you try this as it was okay for me http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
