Want to get my neice on-line with her 486--just for email--but no of the ISPs will respond to her 2400bps modem--LOL. I have used all the spares I had laying around. Not wanting to invest in that hunk-o-junk, Thanks so much!! Mary Jane

modems are not that expensive, if you look at any of the major chains u will find one to fit your her system as well as budget....or call a used parts store and get one there...

Yes with pci software modems it shouldn't hard to find a cheap one in 56,33,28 or 14 range. =)

Also you might be interested in below sites which are like ISP hunter sites.. quite nice.

Now now!!

I run a Diamond Supramax soft modem and it works great. You do have to have the cpu power to support it but it has yet to fail. I average about 49k connection with a free ISP. Not bad eh?
