does anyone have some fans, heatsinks, or thermal paste?? i have a k6-2 450 processor that seems to want to run at 123F normally. i am having a hard time believing that that kinda heat is good for it. if anyone does not have these items for sale at this time, could someone point to a good site to get some of these goodies?
thanks in advance

I recently bought a fan/heatsink for my p3 450 from http://www.vikingcomputers.net the prices were fine and the low shipping fees if you buy more than one are nice....and no I dont work for the company so I'm not plugging myself =) check them out and see what they got.

check out www.2cooltek.com (http://www.2cooltek.com) or www.3dfxcool.com (http://www.3dfxcool.com) I have bought from both of them and they are good people. If you need some thermal paste, let me know and I can put it in with the zip drive if you still want it.

i dont mean to sound like a paraniod jerk, but is it gonna cost me anything or is is tossed in as a freebie. its not that I do not trust you, but i just want to make sure. if is a freebee yeah I will take it with much gratitude. i may be posting in a few days on how to apply it properly though (much patience is required to be a newbie when you want to know so much but know so little)

Apply the paste in a VERY thin coating between any contact points of the cpu and heatsink. It's only put on there to smooth the tiny surface imperfections. If the sink and cpu surfaces were perfectly flat, the paste wouldn't be needed.
If you are ordering fans, don't get too carried away. I would suggest that a super slot fan might do wonders, especially if you have a hot-running video card.

It would be a freebie!! A tube of thermal compound is like a dollar at radio shack, There is probably enough in there to do about twenty or thirty heatsinks. I know I will never use it all, so why not share?

Whoa!!! you don't have a heatsink????? I am surprised you haven't fried your chip!!! You need to get one asap, even if it is an el cheapo from radio shack. I am surprised you are not having problems due to overheating. And this is nothing against seti, but I would quit running it until you get a heatsink as it puts a heavy load on your cpu(rc5 would do the same thing). You might even put rain or cpuidle on your computer to help cool it down.

I looked at the processor and it does have this weird heatsink that looks worse than el cheapo from RS...it's like a hollow box with ridges and holes all over it...never seen or heard of the like..its metal but that is all i can say about it.
I am having overheating problems...after running at 122-123 for awhile the cpu performance goes way down as in slow to do anything, and windows is having this weird thing in which it does not redraw text that has been under a window, i cant scroll, and no animation of any kind (screensavers especially) will work. i reboot and its fine. this happens at least once a day. yesterday morning i had to reboot 5 times befor the computer would behave (maybe i need to start beating it *grins*)....

i saw somewhere, some might have heard of this before, that this company is selling barebones with a cooling sys. similir to a freezer. Freon compresor the whole works baby...they overclocked an AMD 700 to a Gig.
they saw that befor it even gets power to the SYSTEM that that "cooling sys." takes the temp of the pros. to -49C or some ungodly amount like that...and they say that it stays below 0C...don't ask me how they keep from forming ice but ohwell.

that would be kryoteck even though they do not get it that cold. not necessary to run it that cold.

i think that this is the website...
