Startup Speaker Noise

When my E-machine displays the "E" splash screen the speakers emit a loud screeching noise. I just replaced a failing power supplyabout a week before it started doing this. Any Ideas?

Curious......do you have your microphone active? Near your Speakers? I was thinking, based on how you discribed the noise...sounds like feedback!!
