It is my impression that many (or most of the people on this forum do not appreciate a question such as this. What you are asking about involves theft, and technically, anyone who gives you that info is party to the crime if you commit it. I'm sure there are places on Al Gore's Information Superhighway where you can get that question answered, but I'm guessing this is not one of those places. socalgal 07-14-2000, 12:33 AM Yes, you pay for the service and the cable company descrambles the code. Otherwise it's illegal, and as such, solicitation or advice for "how-to break the law" is not allowed on these forums. If you believe that, go ahead and pay the scammers on the Net who spam us all with their "$14.95" descrambling how-to kit emails. They are bogus. To descramble cable TV, you need a descrambler, which is built in to the converter box (digital or analog) loaned to you by the cable provider. Which channels get converted is up to them - as they program the box through the cable line, and tell the descrambler unit which channels to allow through. Stealing cable is very risky, and very illegal, and won't be condoned here. Cable companies take theft seriously, and fines are hefty. The technology to detect theft is in place, so watch out, and pay for your cable. Better yet, ditch cable and get DirecTV or Dish, you'll be WAY happier.
