Hi, Our sys. admin. is interested in configuring IE5 or 5.5 to save favorites to a networked drive, rather than the C drive. We run a Novell Netware 5.5 network, and IE5 would reside on the hard drives of each work station.
So far no luck. Can it be done? If so, how? Any good web resources to read up on this kind of question? Thank you..

It would probably take a registry tweakto move the native favorites folder. You might check John Woram's registry site. Can't think of the URL, but just do a search on his name and registry.
There are websites that make it possible to store, use, and share bookmarks. WWW.Clickmarks.com (http://WWW.Clickmarks.com) is one of them. There are also programs available as alternatives to native IE favorites. One of these might be a viable alternative to moving the Favorites Folder. Check some of the shareware sites.

NT & W9X might be alittle different, but this is how I specify a different location for several "Shell" folders in W95. Notice this is in Regedit form w/the double slashs in folder paths:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]
"Recent"="d:\\temp"
"Personal"="e:\\msoffice\\document"
"Favorites"="e:\\internet\\Favorite"
"Cache"=d:\\internet\\Tempor~1"
"Cookies"="d:\\internet\\Cookies"
"AppData"="d:\\internet\\AppData"
"NetHood"="d:\\temp"
It's a alittle trickier than this, tho. Once these keys are merged, any other "Shell Folder" references need to be changed manually to match them. IOW, then I change any other existences of the particular folders I changed here:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]
Be careful with this -- it might take alittle experimentation to get right. Plus NT isn't as forgiving as W9X when making registry hacks. But this does work fine on my system. Remember, tho, this would slow down startups since each box would need to connect to the server's "favorites" folder every time they started up.
