Never mind, found my answer: (@ mylex.com I'm embarassed to say)

Segment Size:

The segment size function is set in conjunction with stripe size and represents the size of the data "chunk" or "block" that will be read or written at one time. Under daccf, the segment size (also known as "cache line size") should be based on the stripe size you have selected. The default segment size is 8K for all DAC960's.

I still don't see what the difference (function-wise) between that and a cluster size.

Since we don't have a

Hard Drive/Multimedia Forum
Hard drives, CD-ROM/R/RW's, and Sound cards
(hint hint), I'll post my question here.

My RAID card lets me select a stripe size and a segment size. What's a segment size? Incidentally, it's limited by the stripe size.

I would just say that you use cluster for a single disk and segment for RAID arrays...

Just a naming convention...
