I am in need of benchmarking sustained write speeds to a network drive, and am looking for ideas on how. I need to stream about 3 megs per second and want to make sure it is capable before I buy a bigger drive for it. My video renders are now running about 12 hours, and I'm wanting to off load the capture and production process from my main system. I can't however move the capture card out, because it doubles as my bedroom tv. Thanks for any ideas.

Well, my advice would be to get a 10,000 rpm scsi drive and nice scsi card in your other PC. have them both plugged into a nice 3com 100 mbit network card and a network switch (switches have better performance than a plain old hub). That should be fast enough. I have copied 80-100 meg files across my network in under 30 or 40 seconds.
