Saw this the other day. Anybody got any experience with this drive? Is it an unreliable POS or is fine for average people?

Screw my local compusa stores!!! $69.99!!

Pricing and availability information is up-to-date as of 6/20/2001 8:39:22 AM. Listed prices are national prices, and actual retail prices may vary by market. Products are sold on a first come, first serve basis.

I told them I would just pay the $8.50 for 2 day shipping if I buy it! I think I will go elsewhere to buy parts.

All the CompUSA stores in the Fort Worth, Texas, area are out of stock of this item.

CompUSA currently has the Delta 12x DVD-ROM drives in stock for $69.99 with a $30 mail-in rebate.
I bought one today and tried to install it in my home computer.
The drive would barely read any CD-ROM, either commercial or burned CD-R or CD-RW, and produced many freeze-ups.
I will be returning the drive to CompUSA tomorrow after work and get my Visa card credited for the return.

What makes Best buy a better store, is the workers there (as far as I know) don't work on commission, so they won't B.S. everyone just as much.

Just sent this link to a friend who is looking for a DVD drive..

Mike - your right, they don't work on commission there. I once had a Best Buy "sales" person tell me to buy buy on-line instead. LOL! So I did...

Without the MIR's and super sales all those places are only good for shopping, not buying...

circuit city is alwas out of anything on sale
I hate MIRs. always a battle with staples rebate outfit, months behind. their web pages are a real mess to deal with.

MadMatt:
That's great..
Although most of the Best buy's i've been to still try and soak money out of anyone that walks into the store..(Gotta stay in business http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif)

Wow... Now that you mention it, you really can tell that the CC employees are on commission. They are just so eager to sell you stuff... But not nearly as much as Games Workshop... They try to rape you (or at least pile on as much stuff as they can) every time you walk in!
