This drive looks a little weird plus I can't find specs on it at Hitachi.com so I'm a little concerned about this deal. Anybody got info on this thing or own one?

Here's the scoop, I went over to overstock.com and I found out why it's so cheap. It's an OEM version got absoluetly nothing but the drive. NO DRIVERS NO AUIOD CABLE NO MOUNTING SCREWS... NOTHING. Buy it if you wish, seems like a good deal, too... :-D

I have one and its a fine unit at 36$, (I paid about 110$ OEM 15 months ago) quiet enough and has worked fine using TV out with an ATI AIW...if I needed a cheap DVD id buy one---I just swapped it out for an Aopen 16XDVDPro slotload for 90$...

Seems shady. I did a quick search on Google for 'GD-7000' and found that most sites refer to that drive as only 8X -- not 12X as advertised.

I've seen this thing listed as GD-5000/7000 on pricewatch and listed as 8x. I could really use a new DVD, but I want to make sure that it's not something exotic or wrong or won't work, etc. Anybody here with some sleuthing skills to help figure this out. I'm gonna go check out overstocks return policy and see if it's worth the hassle.
