OK, Since I got my computer fixed by getting another HD (I now have 3),what do you recommend to keep it stable and repairable?
I have one HD in 3 partitions 8-6-1
the second HD in 2 (10G) I will change that to 1 partition soon.
the third in 1 for back up
Do I install the bare min in drive c 1st part then install most programs in the second partition? Or install in the second HD?
Also what do you guys recomend for back ups? Take an image onto the second HD once in a while?

For backup, you cant beat a good scsi tape drive. I use a DDS-2 drive, myself. You can pick up one of these for less than $200.

That's right codybear I knew someone was from St Pete, I forgot who it was. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif
So how do you use ghost for backing up? Take a image once a month? Do you use another HD, partition, or CD-RW?
linux guru, thanks but I now have so much "space" I'm trying to find stuff to do with it.
BTW, HD's are as follows:
10g 7200 ata66
15G 7200 ata66
3.1 old unknown? before ata33

I use Powerquest Drive Image, here is what I do. The image can only be created onto a different partition, or drive,so I'll image my C partition onto my D partition. The images can be split up into CD sized pieces and burned onto disks. I keep several images on my back-up partition and on CD's. On the CD's I also keep a copy of the PQ boot disk, so I can restore my system thru DOS if the system is compleatly wacked out.
Making an image is quick and easy, and I found that restoring an image is a quick and easy way to bring the system back to a "known good" working condition.
Imaging the partitions onto different drives will give you added protection against a HD failure, putting the images onto CD's will protect your data against compleate system failure.
Hope that helps Brian
