IT SEEMS cheap, but anyone heard of that brand? wtp Mntsnow 07-05-2000, 10:03 PM They use to put out a pretty good burner but as of late I personally only hear of problems with their burners http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif I personally would suggest an HP or Plextor. If you watch you can get them for not much more and you will be much more happy in the long run IMHO Roy 07-05-2000, 10:11 PM I have the 8/20 burner and a friend has their RW. Mine is excellent(!) and he's had no problems. And they're supported by Adaptec software. Interesting note ~ the drawer is belt instead of gear driven. Very smooth and quiet. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif jadinolf 07-05-2000, 10:14 PM Word to the wise. S&F is bankrupt so if it breaks... well you know... Glynn R Harris 07-05-2000, 11:41 PM I am sorry to hear they are bankrupt. I started out in CD-R with their 2006 Plus, later got a 226RW, and now have their External SCSI Turbowriter RW. The drives were of other makes; they packaged them with good software and, in short, took on getting the bare drives to the plug-n-play stage. But now every manufacturer has more or less done this for themselves, I guess. My 2006 by the way, was a Philips mechanism internally; the 226 was a Sony, and the Turbowriter is a Yamaha. jadinolf 07-05-2000, 11:53 PM Here are the details; http://www.zdnet.com/zdnn/stories/news/0,4586,2597858,00.html wtp 07-05-2000, 11:59 PM well uhm, they're selling a CD/RW for 35 bucks thats new. I think it's 2x2x? i forgot, but u think i should get it?? I know it's my decision, but I think i'll hear from the audience, LOL...j/k, i think i should hear from you sysopt family members, whether i should or not. wtp http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif jadinolf 07-06-2000, 12:01 AM For thirty five bucks, I'd jump at it. Gomer 07-06-2000, 09:14 AM Hell WTP, I have an old Acer 2x1x24 that I use. It is the only burner I have. It isn't the quickest but it gets the job done. $35 is chump change. Snatch it up if you have the yern to burn. BTW, Best Buy has a 50 spindle of 80 minute CDR's for 14.95 after rebate, 19.95 before rebate. That works out to a dollar a CD when buying the above mentioned burner. Not a bad deal at all. Make sure it comes with some software though.
