i'm using winamp to decompress a stereo mp3 into a wav format... I really need to make it a mono wav instead of a stereo wav, and I don't know how to do this!

can any of you help me do this... I'm sure that it can be done, I just don't know how!
thanks

Depending on the WAV editor, you can do this in one pass or two.
I use a $40 shareware program called Goldwave. I can port in MP3 and save mono WAVs, Stereo WAVs, whatever. Goldwave is such a darn fine program for audio work, you oughta give it a thirty-day tryout... the "demo" shareware is not crippled, it just nags after a certain amount of use. I think if you are serious about CD recording and such, you'll probably register it. http://www.goldwave.com
Even if you don't like Goldwave, check out their links page, there are several format conversion utilities listed there. Probably one of them will do the job you want, maybe even batch conversions.
Good Luck. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

You could also just use good'ol (& FREE) Sound Recorder that comes with Windoze.

Go ahead and use Winamp to convert to a WAV, then open it in Sound Recorder, choose FILE / Properties / & press Convert Now.

Depending on the Codecs you have installed, you might have a just few mono formats to choose from, or like me you might have dozens & dozens of them.
