Is this a good deal or something to stay away from? thekingofpain 04-10-2001, 10:08 AM A neighbor purchased a 466i eMachine over a year ago (399$) that he uses every day, only prob was a noisy heatsink fan which I replaced for a couple $$$ plus we added 64m of memory and it seems to be fine for him, its been a great budget system so far... SoopaStar 04-10-2001, 11:00 AM I work for best buy...and this is a smoking deal. If you go look at compgeeks.com they have used/refurbs for $239 (plus shipping of course). They are actually pretty decent machines. People think they have tons of problems becuase you hear alot of bad things about them. But this is mostly because they were one of the #1 sold computers during the MSN $400 rebate deal for the last 1-2 years (free computer). I would say upgrade the memory because most of those only have 32 megs. Also, make sure you run MSconfig and do the add/remove programs. They come with a bunch of **** software and URL Advertisements. Paul C. koaptec 04-10-2001, 06:27 PM SoopaStar Thanks for the Info! Did some checking at emachines website and it has 2 mem slots and 3 PCI slots. You found a Real PC Newbie! How do you run MS config and remove all the unwanted programs and url ads--thought you had to live with it or get someones Real Win OS CD and do a clean install Thanks again for the tips! SysOpt.com
