While rounding off some ribbon cables today I wondered if it was possible to wack off the end of the cable and use the middle connector? Guess I could sacrifice one to find out, anyone done this? http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

OOOPS---didnt work, tried it on a floppy cable first,(better than experimenting on a udma66 right?) looks aerodynamic, but it sure aint functional... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

TKOP, If you do it to a floppy cable you will have to change the "A" and "B" in the bios as the TWIST in the cable is there for a reason http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif The twist is how the computer determines which floppy is A and which one is B

Yeh it will work on a 40 pin ide ribbon only...I'm not to sure about the 80 pin udma66 cables though.
