Yep, the good stuff... and worth every penny. I build custom gaming machines, on a recent machine, I decided to swap the good stuff with some cheaper stuff just to see what would happen. the system would not come out of standby for one. since this is very dependant on ram and hard drive. I switched the ram back to the good stuff and all worked. I then tried this with several other brands of cheaper ram and same problem, non return from system sleep. It pays to get the good stuff, since troubleshooting sleep mode is really tough! and troubleshooting ram problems can be an intermittent pain.

Could someone explain exactly what is the difference between ECC, Parity, & non-parity when refering to memory? I've looked thru the mobo manual & it doesn't say which it's supposed to be. All it says is (3) 168-pin unbuffered DIMM & supports 3.3v SDRAM DIMM.

I'm putting together a new system and I'm using the new Microstar K7TPro2A with the AMD Thunderbird.

thanks for any info you can give me.

you need non parity and either ecc or not. GET CAS2 for athlon though. Amd states at their reseller events that this will improve the athlon's preformace. lots of the cheaper ram is cas3. Parity willnot fit in most mbs. ecc means error correcting. with most home systems it in not necessary. parity has the alignment demples in different spots.
