I think there's a misprint. I saw it for $49.99 with a $20 mail-in rebate making it $29.99.

In my Sunday paper, Staples listed a Memorex 48x multi-read IDE CD-ROM for $19.97 after $30 mail-in rebate. Product SKU is 381913.

Then again, here is the same drive at Staples' website for $29.99 after $20 rebate:
