I build systems now as a hobby for friends and family and others, I am considering doing it now for some extra cash. This would entail getting a business name and reseller number. I just need to know where to get my parts when I have a reseller number. codybear 12-28-2000, 06:04 PM from my own experiences I have found parts cheaper than resellers could buy them from thier suppliers and many times at the same price....the good Doc Corvette is one fantastic finder of good deals and that's what most do when buying parts for builds..a reseller will not always get the best deal because his supplier will not always tell him of the deals.....you have to look for the best buys and after awhile you will know where to look and how to look I have a friend that has a reseller license and I find them cheaper than he can buy them...again because the reseller is not going to get the quick deals and 1 day deals that save so much on the cost...if you are going to be building many machines then yes you will probably save on quantity but building and making money do not go hand in hand like it use to just 6 months ago [This message has been edited by codybear (edited 12-31-2000).] randy48 12-29-2000, 12:14 AM You're not saying where you are, so who knows? Stop, Look, Listen. Just like at the RR Tracks http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Surf a lot, buy a little. Look for instant coupons, shy away from "rebates" Our fav coupon link here is www.techbargains.com (http://www.techbargains.com) Check um daily. My fav store is www.buy.com (http://www.buy.com) Check the "Steal of the Day" (out during holidays) buy.com is where I get RAM(Brand Name) Hard Drives, Some Motherboards, Monitors, Scanners, Printers etc CodyBear got a free HP 932c with a deal last spring, the dog. I missed it. www.tigerdirect.com (http://www.tigerdirect.com) CPU's , some motherboards, some power supplies www.compgeeks.com (http://www.compgeeks.com) , too bad for you, they're in Ca you'll pay tax http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif Get used stuff here, KNOW YOUR PRODUCT FIRST. Some new mobos, cards, good cheap cases etc. www.staples.com (http://www.staples.com) always overpriced BUT the techbargains coupon sometimes makes inkjet cartridges and photo paper a STEAL here. www.amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com) usually overpriced, don't depend on getting the stuff. They often post "in-stock" but don't have it. www.overstock.com (http://www.overstock.com) old obsolete stuff, not too cheap but sometimes what you need. www.mcglen.com (http://www.mcglen.com) fair prices on CPU's http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/ good spot for really neat heat sinks/fan combos. good prices too. user reviews can help too-->> http://sysopt.earthweb.com/userreviews/index.html Lastly, but most important, SYSOPT's site for vendors. Check-->> http://www.resellerratings.com/ first then -->> http://ibuyer.sysopt.com/ I dislike egghead.com and ecost.com, both claimed to have stuff "in-stock" , kept me hanging on and on, then "Oops Sorry, We can't deliver what we promised" BTW, I gave them written warning that I'd slam them whenever possible for this if they didn't quit FALSE ADVERTISING.. Take that http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif To pay for all this meaningless drivel, you must offer all the support you can and go to this link and us it for your wallpaper, j/k of course http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif -->> http://oposite.stsci.edu/pubinfo/pr/2000/04/content/0004w.jpg have fun http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif DrVette Ironforge 01-02-2001, 08:15 PM I dislike egghead.com and ecost.com, both claimed to have stuff "in-stock" , kept me hanging on and on, then "Oops Sorry, We can't deliver what we promised" -------------------------------------------- I know what you mean.. I hate stores like that... The same thing recently happend to me with www.onvia.com (http://www.onvia.com) with a few orders. I am severely dissapointed. SysOpt.com
