I had a software modem and for everyday surfing it is fine http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. OuTpaTienT 07-08-2000, 03:24 AM Cons: They eat up your CPU cycles which can slow down other things that the computer is trying to do. Also, they take a valuable space that could be another PCI slot. Plus there is a limited selection of devices that use the AMR slot. Pros: None. (IMO) ------------------- This was a big selling point for me when I bought my newest motherboard, Abit KA7. Abit had the intelligence to realize that any knowledgable computer user would never use an AMR device be choice, so they don't have it on my motherboard and instead gave us another PCI slot. AMR slots are mainly gonna be used by OEMs that are building systems for as cheap as possible. With emphasis on the word cheap. fritzp 07-08-2000, 07:38 AM well said OuTpaTienT Fred SysOpt.com
