As you can see, my last system wasn't that old at all, so there was no difference on internet. Not too much help, am I http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif.

My old system was a "budget" comp. It only had one 5 1/4" expansion, sucky video, etc. I sold it and bought the new one. Everything is super fast! My mp3s no longer skip, I can copy from the CD-RW and do other stuff at the same time with no troubles. MUCH better than the last system.

Unless your system is TERRIBLY old, like a slow 486, you won't see any difference in internet speed over a dial-up if the modems are similar/same in performance.
My dial-up is so bad I just use a tin-can on a string http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

256 megs pc100
ati rage 32megs
usr 56k 2974 modem
and was think of selling it and jumping up to a tbird 850 but hearing what you 2 have to say, i think i will wait for cable
