www.rocketboard.com (http://www.rocketboard.com)

I ordered one for the wife a while back. took about 6-8 weeks to get it, but i got it. Not to shabby for free. It is actually very quiet too. Hardly any noise from the keys.

Is there any catch? Do you have to sign up for something or what?

Just wondering. I might get one.
Looks good for a free one http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif hehe

Thanks,

I think I will pass on this one. I am betting that when you run their software you are being monitored of all your web activities and another task running backside.

I mentioned this board a couple of posts down, and I have one of these boards sitting at home right now. They are decent boards, and the trick is not to use the software that comes with them. In fact, I've heard that there are programs out there that allow you to remap all of the extra keys. Anybody hear of this?

I ordered one too...so I don't have to install the software for it to work? It looks like a cool keyboard, but there's always a catch :/

As far as I can tell there is no catch. I loaded the software and all it does is assign the buttons to the proper rocketboard link. Except for the one where you can make it what you want. I haven't recieved any spam **** from them either.

Maybe they do maybe they don't monitor what you do. But since the wife uses the key board on her computer, she doesn't use the hotkeys anyhow. It's quiet and that she likes.

Can't beat it for free.

I don't sweat the small stuff.

I tried it for the first time a few days ago and had the same results as Chip. I just tried it and was able to complete the order. Now I have to reply to the email.

Well first of all if your Canadian your out of luck. I tried several times and just keeps telling me it's not compatible with my setup. So we canadians do not qualify.

I believe in the adage "you don't get anything from some company for free." But I ordered one! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Thx NavyDood.

You can go to http//www.grc.com and get a program they provide free that will tell you if there are any program running in the background. It's call "Optout." They also test your firewalls and other neat things we should know when we go surf'in dude. Like get a free one and like dig it dude, I mean how narly can thing get?

I don't know the URL I got it from, but I do have the drivers for this board that allow you to reprogram the keys along the top of the board.

I went and got the "optout" program and it said it found 24 files of spyware. It gives you a option to remove them, but these programs may stop running without them. All of it is kinda spooky. It also sounds like they are trying to sell you a new browser.

Against my better judgement I ran this "optout" software and caused problems. Upon startup, after wallpaper apears, I get windows. 1st= couldn't load Advert.dll...Click OK..2nd=couldn't find address of _startup...Click ok...3rd=couldn't find address of_paint...Click ok. 4th= couldn't find address of _on click.. Click OK. This goes on and on for 16 things. After all has been clicked OK, then a illegal operation message comes up. Close out and then the PC works find. Now I need help guy's, to correct this.
Here is a list of of files I think it deleted. Advert.dll, adimage.dll, advert203.ocx, advertx.ocx, amcis.dll, amcis2.dll, anadsc.ocx, anadscb.ocx, c\windows\amc\*, c\windows\amcdl, htmdeng.exe tadimage.dll, tfde.dll.
