I am in the market for a new hard drive. I think i have narrowed it down to these three criteria:
1) 18.2gb
2) ultra2/ultra160 interface
3) 10,000rpm

ST118202LC, Cheetah 10000RPM 18.2gb - $239

18.2 10krpm for 238 sounds like a good deal.. I think it is last generations model of cheetah? Is there a hard drive with more punch for the buck than this?

Sounds good if you have your heart set on 10,000 rpm.

You can get 20 Gig (+/-) 7200 Rpm drives for almost $100 less, though. I guess it comes down to your priorities.

Yeah.. I'm sorta lookin for the best 10,000rpm drive for the money.. I would get the X15 but i'm a bit short for that one..

From what i've heard, i would think a 10,000rpm scsi drive would dust any IDE drive there is.

muddoggy: I dont think that price is for a SCSI drive, is it? I know you can get 20.5 gb IDE drives for $99 or so...but scsi also?

Check out this story on the ATA 100 coming in June/July time frame, it would seem harddrive prices are falling.
