I know everybody has had trials and tribs with every brand known to man, but for the money Maxtor is the one to get. it's the leader of the pack in my book. I'd also wait as long as you possibly can, as the new pups come out (60 and 75 gb) the prices for the smaller drives will start dropping. I can't believe I just called a 20 gb a smaller drive. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif TOAD6147 06-17-2000, 05:04 AM I was probably the one and only to get to use two coupons at Office Max but here's a $25-off-$100 purchase (coupon code: mayd3) and there's always free shipping on anything over $50 order. Maxtor 20.4 had been $149.95. I got my last one for $109.95 at my door. Ah, those were the days! PS I wouldn't touch Quantum again with a ten foot pole! I wonder if they are worth waiting for? Nixona 06-18-2000, 08:43 AM There's rumor that all Maxtor UDMA66 drives have always been 100. The new 100's maxtor is shipping out have the same serial numbers as the 66's with a firmware upgrade. There was something about keeping it quite because another company (Quantum?) had rights to the ATA100 stuff. Actually, I just found the link http://www.maxtor.com/technology/technotes/21009.html Check it out. SysOpt.com
