SCREAMIN deal...right up 'another' friends alley...thanks!

EDIT---> reason why, bought eMachine 500 w/ a Pixie 17" for 550$ for a neighbor (after rebate)...monitors GREAT as was the price...of course the eMachine "build" leaves alot to be desired (had probs after 2 weeks use, there solution to a bad 6$ cpu fan was send entire unit in for replacement) the Dell combo looks alot better for the added few $$$...thanks alot http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I must be a geek. I have, uhhh, 5 pewters within sight and gonna order one of the Dell's. For mine, I added a 7.5gb HD for $20, Harmon Kardon speakers for $10, a CD Burner 8x4x32x for $99. And get this, FREE SHIPPING, non Dell carrier, whatever that is. Anyway, total is $928.00 at the door. lotsa luck, all. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gifDrVette

Yeah, that is a good deal... but now its an upgrade to a DVD instead of the monitor http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif I've worked with Dell's Tech support frequently here at work, and have always been satisfied with them (quick shipping of parts too). A friend of mine is looking for a new pc for around $750, and this would have been perfect if it had the 17" http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif

On dealing with Dell, as I've discovered you must check the site often. Get on the mailing list and compare what's on line as to option prices etc. The one I was gonna get(chickened out) the cd-rw was only $99. Several people at work have great stories about what some relative was able to get from dell by watching closely. In Jan they had a 550 mhz unit with 133mhz mobo and rdram running at 356mhz. It's not quite as impressive as it sounds , I forget why. Anyway this unit was about 1500 or so with 32mb video card, cdrw, 17",, lotsa goodies.. don't fret,, oh, bout forgot.. Make sure to check the business computers as sometimes the pricing on them is lower than the home units, sometimes you'll neet to opt for a optional modem, installed. Check the refurbished units too.. Search hard and buy what you "need". DrVette

Dell is awesome!!

I'm planning on buying one of their highest systems in July or when I get the money - whichever comes first. I'm going all out on this one.

Some key specs: <----CURRENTLY
733mhz
64 DDR NVIDIA vid card
128mb of pure Rambus
8/4/32 CD-RW
19" Trinitron FD monitor
20.4 GB hard drive
Soundblaster LIVE

$2200
Keep in mind that these specs are CURRENT! Will change in 2 months!

In addition to what I already have:
Intellimouse Explorer
MONSTER home theater system
Pioneer slot(!) DVD (will get)

This all makes for ONE KILLER SYSTEM!!!!! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Yes, I'm excited because I'm 16 and this is a BIG deal for me http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. And no, my family is not rich, I'm buying this myself (while my friends are buying cars). http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
