Sams' Club (here in SoCal) has this drive (7200rpm/2mg buffer) for $164.xx with a $50 mail-in rebate (Sam's rebate good til 03.31.00). I think I'll pick this up tomorrow.

DOH! I had the wrong price! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/redface.gif (Corrected above) You're correct UncaDanno and I missed your post too... Well, I just got one, still a good price http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

And, it's a Caviar 205BA, not an Expert.

geesh

Is that $149 before or after the rebate? I posted earlier about Sam's here (NC) having them for $165 before the rebate (to net ya $115 after).

People seem to like 'em.

If the $149 is before rebate, I just may have to scurry on back to Sam's to see if the price has gone down here on the Right Coast!

I have tried for the last week to pick one up, to no avail, they are out of stock and they have no set schedule for getting anymore in. Another thing is that there is a $30 rebate on the WD box. In the ad, it says you can only use one rebate, but the manager at the Sams club by my house said you could use both.

20.7GB? Too bad I'm not a member of Sam's Club. Is there any way to get a 1 day pass or something like that? I just need to get in there for this!! Please let me know if you know of a way.

I don't know about being able to get the $30 rebate in addition to the $50 Sam's Club rebate..(?) They told me one or the other.

There's a green $30 rebate sticker on the box that you have to mail in (the original sticker - not a copy) and it says on it 'See Store for Details'. There's no mail-in rebate form inside the box. (Then, maybe your store has a cool manager http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif ).

Anyway, I think you have to get the Sam's rebate booklet (given to me at the store when I walked in) because the rebate form is in that booklet...

rh71, it's 20.5G. I asked and someone told me you can get a one-day pass so maybe you want to call to make sure, or go with someone who has a Sam's membership (you have to include the membership number on the form).

At my Sam's they had only two left... and now there's one http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I think you can get a pass but non-members pay an additional 5%. Still not a bad deal.

I asked the guy on the phone if they did 1-day passes and he was like, "no, we don't do that here." Maybe I should check with people in another department at Sam's Club... maybe a different story?

The in-store price is $165 ($164.98) and the rebate is $50. (My out-the-door cost due to CA State Tax 8.25% = $178.59. Your mileage may vary.)

What I like about this deal is that the store is walking distance from my work if I have any problems with getting their rebate. The rebate is through Sam's Club, not Western Digital.

Hi everyone

Just thought I would post back to say that Sam's Club is on it with their rebates!

Just got my $50 rebate today.. and I see from my above post that I purchased the drive about one month ago, plus another day or two before mailing away.

Right on, Sam's Club! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I have the same drive from VA.com - I also saw no slip, but you can print out a form from the WD site for the $30 rebate..I got my 30 cashed in already.
I didnt have any other rebates, so i dont know if they wont keep th3 30 cuz of the 50
I think they wanted the sticker thingy off the box, reciept and the printed, filled out form.

I used to work for sams club up until about a month a a half ago (Was the computer sales guy). I got one of those drives. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif They also have a KICKASS deal on the HP 9300i cdrw. Its $269!! thats a 10x4x32x !! best buy wants $249 for the 8x!!

Paul.
oh, and no, they do not do one day passes anymore. It was being abused. So they stopped. membership is $35 a year and that includes one spouse or person in the family above 18. Extra people are $15 or something like that.

I put one in a friends computer and it worked great. It sure is faster than the 4 gig I took out. I think it was a good purchase you made.
