I've got a question regarding building a system. Say I've $3,000 to spend and I'd like to get a mad gaming system. Where would be the best place to get a system? What specs? I checked out Dell for example and I can get:

PIII/800
128 RDRAM
40G 7200RPM ATA66 hard drive
19in Trintron
64m GeForce DDR
12X DVD drive / Hardware decoding-TV out
Sound Blaster Live! Value
10/100 NIC
Surgestation Pro8T2

Can you guys do better than that for $3,000? I'm betting on it, that's why I asked. Thanks in advance.

They've got the best pre-built gaming systems, all configurable within limits. Based in Washington state. Their best one is around $5000, and for $3000 you could probably get just as much as Dell is offering.

*edit*
probably, with a little searching, you could get the same stuff by building your own system, but it'd cost around the same w/ shipping, or if you got it all from the same place (possibly http://www.bunta.com )you could save a couple hundred.

Well with that much money you can do better. Instead of the P3 800 you can get an Athlon 950. Instead of that expensive RDRAM you can buy 256MB PC133 SDRAM. Get the Asus K7V motherboard to go along with it. The result is a faster system for the same price.

check out 168club.com--good prices on oem parts thru complete systems. They have a membership fee, but it is worth it.
