Don't you mean that Staples "advertises" those prices.....?
Staples isn't very popular around here after their last hard-disk deal in which they were constantly out of stock, refused to provide rain checks, and basically screwed people around.

Well i live in ohio went to new towne mall in new philadelphia and they had 4 each...grabbed up a 20 gig........$159 plus tax...........

fyi - as noted in another thread in this forum, I like a lot of others tried to buy the 20 gig Maxtor at Staples. I sent in my order anyway, eventhough it was backordered.
Got a call from customer service to see if I really wanted the drive, and to confirm the delivery date. When I told them I still wanted the drive I was told it would ship next Wednesday (this was Wednesday this past week).
Guess what was waiting for poppa when I got home Friday night - you guessed it. All packaged up and ready to go.
I guess the only words of advice I can give is to submit your backorders and make the company follow through.
I certainly am glad I did. Hope everyone else who persists has the same results. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Other than Circuit City, Staples is the only retail outlet to buy computer stuff in my area and they have yet to fail me. After we mention good deals on here how do you expect for them to keep anything in stock. I bought my 27 gb maxtor there at christmas time for 189.00 and it came with a free 100mb zip drive (which I sold for 70.00). They will do no wrong in my book. Now Comp USA are ripoffs. Way too high for there store type. They were once good.

Not wasting anymore time looking for Staples "vapor" deals.....
They seem to only exist in advertisments and for the first 2 people looking for product!!
