HELP.
I have just lost the drivers for the SCSI CD rom on a Proliant 1000 server, at first I thought no big problem, drive being a CR503 ( Panasonic OEM) try booting up with 3.5" disk will not recognise the CD Rom,

go to Compaq site get drivers for the server, still won't recognise,

go to Panasonic site get drivers for the Model of rom, still won't recognise,

in desperation I load Win 95 upgrade from floppy useing boot disk from Win 3.11, go into Windows CD Rom is recognised and works fine.

try to upgrade to NT4, get into NT4 CD Rom not there, or recognised http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif this is after it installed useing the CD Rom, boot back to 95 it works fine.

Any one have any ideas on how I can steal the CD Rom driver from Windows 95 floppies to install under NT4.?

I could be wrong, but I don't believe the drivers that are working for you under Win95 will also work under NT. They are probably 16-bit legacy drivers and NT (or 2000) is an all 32-bit OS.

Isn't there specific NT drivers for the thing. Is there Win2000 drivers?

Shouldn't the drive work fine if your SCSI controller has its drivers installed? When I had my SCSI controller & drives in my system, once I had the driver for the controller installed NT just picked the CD-Rom drives right up.

Well this mother is just being contary, I had an email that states compaq have jumpers on their SCSI card that will be over riden by 95 but not NT, so I will check with Compaq, if this is the case and it solves the problem will post the answer, in the mean time any other ideas will be gratfully recieved.

Well I sead I would post the answer.

I got the second server and tranfered all the cards, hard drives, the CD rom even the floppy to it, fired it up and the CD Rom was there, no problems finding it no matter which op system, checked the mobo on the other server, all was set the same as the one that worked with the CD Rom so I figure the Mobo has deveolped some strange fault, put anothe mobo in server, reinstalled all missing parts system now works 100%.
