I have been looking at buying a new computer for months. After some research I have decided on buying an Axis Terra AXV, due to a review found in the December issue of "Computers Buyers Guide and Handbook". I have seen mixed reviews on www.resellerratings.com (http://www.resellerratings.com) and am unsure what I should do. Can anyone tell me if it is a safe company to do business with, or point me in a direction of a better computer company that is as affordable as the AXIS Terra AXV.

The specs are:
500Mhz Atlon
128 megs of memory
Microstar 6167 Mobo
IBM Deskstar 13.5 Gig 7200 rpm HD
10x DVD
Altec Lansing ACS33 Speakers
Sound Blaster Live
Axis 17" .26 Monitor
Microsoft Office 2000 SBE
Windows 98 se
Keytronics Keyboard
Microsoft Intellimouse
ATI XPERT 2000 w 32megs video card

price - $1399.00 + $95 for s&h

Thanks & MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hi ChuckG73

Friend of mine ordered from Axis a few months ago. I don't recall all the specs, but I do know he ordered a PIII 450 and the system came installed with a PII 400. A couple of phone calls later, an OEM PIII 450 was promptly delivered, to which I attached a sink/fan.

Be sure with any purchase you carefully check your hardware and invoice against what you have actually ordered.

After a software related bump or two (Win98SE related) I haven't been getting any calls regarding problems with his computer, so I *assume* he's not having problems with it.

My unsolicited $0.02: Get another monitor - not from Axis. With a system like that I would recommend at most a .25dp and at least a 19". You may have some research to do, but the enjoyment from the investment in a good monitor will keep you (and your eyes) happy for years to come.

Nice system you are ordering, and good luck with whomever you choose.

Merry Christmas! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks a lot SoCalGal. How about a Viewsonic Monitor? 17" .25dp The 19" is a little bit out of my price range but I could swing the extra cash for the Viewsonic.

Hey thanks for the info.

Hi Chuck,

Being a Sony owner, I can't give you my personal rating of Viewsonic (tho we do have some 19" and 21" that look pretty decent at work http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif ), but you can look at what users say about this and other monitors here: User Reviews (http://www.sysopt.com/userreviews/products/monitors3.html)

For me, the true test is to find the high potentials, cart them home and view them in your environment. If not happy, return it and cart home the next one. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

I'm sure someone who owns one could give you some insight...
