hi there
maybe someone can help with this
am running windows 98, how do i identify a corrupt file and once i found it how do i fix the problem
i am getting windows protection error message at shutdown
appreciate the assistance

Go to Run, type in 'sfc' (without quotes) and it will open System File Checker. You can check for corrupt files there.

Drop by Nathan's www.helponthe.net/nathan/ (http://www.helponthe.net/nathan/) He'll have a list of protection errors with the corresponding links to Microsoft's knowledge base.

You'll be using the System File Checker Tool under System Tools/SystemInfo.

Do a search for article number Q129605 at MS. support.microsoft.com/support/c.asp? (http://support.microsoft.com/support/c.asp?)

This should give you a head start.

corrupt file prompt so i will checkout suggested sites
