After my whining, blubbering post earlier about VA.com, I must confess, yes I did get my IBM. Big deal, well sorta. The thing was ord in sept, five calls and two weeks later no pewter. Then on the last day of the month, they re-credit my account with the $100 only to take it back at midnite. As reported in Oct, a smoking letter netted a return letter with my credit. I now have a New IBM 2170-832, 475 amd, 64-pc100, 100fsb, 13.5hd @7200. With s/h $574.00. Boo Hoo no mo. fyi the cpu runs cool to the touch even after being maxxed out for 15 min or so. Later I'll run the rev-limiter up with sysop's help, If you'll allow (S)

Funny, there seems to be a real mix of experiences with VA. Everything I ordered arrived quickly, without delay.

That memory seems to be a real problem for a lot of folks. Some are beginning to finally get theirs per Anand's forums.

I placed 5 separate orders with VA. My first was for an Iomega ZIP 250 in mid October. After about 10 phone calls from me, 3 broken promises of call backs from them, I still don't have the drive. Yes, my credit card was charged back in October. I don't want a charge back because then I will lose the $120 VA dollars when I purchased it. I put my wife on it. They don't know my wife!

DrDeath: I am in the EXACT same boat as you... I ordered the PC133 RAM on the same day you did! after multiple e-mails and several phone calls i was told that it should ship in the End of DEC..
I will not buying anything else from them till they honor this agreement.
BTW= they did charged my CC back in Oct.
Ill let ya know if i ever see it.
To Mr. Dave Waki at Value america: Thanks for NOT calling me back or e-mailing me about this as promised! The absolute worst thing you could have done ..

I ordered a 18.0 gb WD drive for 140 bucks total after ValueD's..processed same day
I got the package in 2 days, and got a 20.5 instead cuz they were outta stock of 18.0 (WD not VA)
THEN I ordered a Scanner just last week
9 days later...still not processed!

I've had two good purchase experiences w/ VA- a cd writer and a cordless phone. The writer took a total of 4 days from order to receipt, and the phone took about a week and a half- an acceptable time frame.
But I can guess that it's easy for orders to get "lost" in a big operation like VA.

I work for Southern Energy, many suppliers are similar to VA in that they don't stock any merchandise. They call the mfg or wholesalers and get them to drop ship it to you. Lots of times the vendors will either lie about in-stock items or do like lawyers and airlines,, OVERSELL, sell what they don't have! So, after 25yr with this company, I've seen this type conduct before. It doesn't bother me as much now, except when you risk losing a C-note.

A follow up on my ZIP drive. A customer service manager called me up tonight (one week late) and told me that the drive is on backorder and they have no idea when it will be shipped. They suggested that I cancel the order. I told them that I want the drive and to ship it when it comes in. Ten minutes after the phone call, I call Value America back, and try to order the drive. They tell me that its in stock and can ship immediately. Hmmmm.... So I go ahead and order the drive (full price) and have it shipped ASAP. I've already paid for a drive and have nothing. All VA wants is to sit on my money and have me eventually cancel the order. I won't do that. When I get the drive, I'm going to assume it is the cheaper one, and then cancel the order on the more expensive one. They're playing with the wrong person!!

Looks like I got lucky - I got the HP CD-RW 9110 drive for $171 after ValueBux... and it came a week later, from HP. From the sound of many of the posts here though it'll be a while before I order from them again. Think I'll take my luck and run!
