What do you guys think?
I want to buy a barebone system for my cousin. I came accross pccost.com. They have one for 279+shipping=325
The only question I got is about the mobo. It is the all in one MB748 LMRT.
My cousin cant ask much for under 300 but will it be a mistake to buy it?
I dont want to feel like a mongoloid if in 2 years they have to buy a new mobo
Your advise is appreciated

Bare bones, how about a $50 full tower, 366 celeron ($50), BM6 ($100), and $100 left for a modem, video, and sound ($20+$60+20)

KB, you left out a floppy, RAM, keyboard, and mouse. Still its a good point, buying parts is not much more expensive and can get better equipment.

I think you may b able to do better with a local distributer, ie - Supercom, ASI, MMI than what you currently have priced.
Get a resale cerificate, saves hunders and allows you to buy a wholesale, as long as you know who the true wholesalers are.

I appreciate your quick comments. I dont want to build one, though I love it, I dont want anything to have to do with it if something goes wrong.
But do you guys know anyhting about the mobo mentioned?
By the way, the system comes with celeron 366, 64 High Speed ram, and 1 year warranty

I thought he said bare bone, as no drives, no extras, I forgot ram, but a barebones comes with no modem or sound.

m748lmrt is pcchips (alton, pcware, matsonic, etc) board which I personally have had good luck with using the RIGHT drivers and the RIGHT bios (they tend to revise bioses frequently). This board has integrated sound, video and modem, so it is either a great buy or something that is not going to be upgraded (ever). OK for someone for a first computer, or someone who will not be needing many slots (think USB).
