Hi,
I just bought cd-rw drive. And I would like to know whether are there any ways that I can play mp3 files using regular cd player? (After I burned it on cd-r)

Currently you can buy a seperate unit that will plug into your stereo and play these (I seem them in magazines like MaximumPC and PC Gamer), and car systems will soon (this month or next) be rolling out with players that handle mp3 format. So have patience, it is coming soon enough if not already http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
But no, unless you are referring to a computer cd-rom, your cd player in your stereo will not handle mp3 format.
i think you should research on that Chip, after downloading MP3s from napster, and burning it on a CD/R, it worked fine on my old CD Player. It's an Onkyo, and my dad had it for a loong time. Pentacles, it won't hurt trying, i've done it many times, and I had NO idea it'd work. Correct me if i'm wrong, but yes, after DLING .mp3 files from napster, i burned it on a CD/R, worked fine. I did this using Nero, I think Nero changes MP3 to CDA, but yes, other than that, it worked.

I think what happen wtp, is your burning program converted your mp3 files to the correct format for CDs. IOW, your stereo is NOT playing mp3s. No regular CD player can handle mp3s, especially an old one...not even the most remote chance of it happening.

nero and adaptec 4 can go directly from mp3 to wav/cda format in one step. all an audio cd is to a computer is a bunch of wavs with a table of contents. i have dozens of mp3 to audio cds so far...

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. Im using Nero, but I'm not sure how to convert the mp3 files to the correct format for CDs just like "OuTpaTienT" said. What option should I choose?
Thanks.

with nero just tell it you want to make an audio cd and drag & drop the files you want on your cd and it automatically converts them

The new Nero (and most other programs) convert the mp3s to wave and then burn them on the CD => 74 minutes of music.
But with a mp3 computer CD you have something around 640 minutes of music.

Interested in builing your own mp3 player (it will play real mp3-cds with ~640 minutes of music)?
I had the plans downloaded somewhere how to build your very own mp3-cd-player.
All you needed was an old 386 CPU with RAM and mobo, a CD-ROM-Drive and a FloppyDisk-Drive and a homebuild card.
I will search for those plans if you want.

Actually Variable, that sounds like something I want to add to my sound system. Anybody else know of any other homebuilt mp3 players that aren't just pcs hooked up to the receiver?
