2 ways I found to access Bios on a compaq:

1) during boot, when you see the screen with a small cursor blinking in the upper left corner and a block-shaped cursor blinking in the upper right corner, hit the F10 key. It's the block-shaped cursor blinking in the upper right corner that you really are looking for.

BTW -- if you do get into the Bios, make sure you backup or write down the current settings before you go making changes.

2)when you first boot up, starting hitting and holding down a bunch of keys until you get a keyboard error, and the system will prompt you to hit F10 to enter bios setup. I did this, hitting ctrl-alt-esc over and over, and it worked.

I went over today, and the f10 thing did the trick. Thanks
