Joel started this category primarily as a way for people to post really good bargains on hardware/software on the 'net. Typically, that would mean closeout deals, screwed up prices (like the buy.com monitor fiascos), etc. We didn't really intend for this to be a classified ads section.

If you would like to see a really well done classified ads section for hardware on sysopt, let us know and we'll think about putting one together.

I think it would be a great place to find a good deal on something someone was done with. I think you have to be very carefull before you send anyone any money. BUYER BEWARE!!

Scott - Classifieds section sounds great, especially if a way can be devised to screen sellers to keep out the less honest, thus making everyone more comfortable about buying. Have suggestions if interested.

I would greatly appreciate a classified section... When ppl are on a limited income like me, buying new hardware is very difficult. I would suggest that if ppl like back out of the deal after money or whatever has been exchanged that they should not be allowed to post on this board again if that is possible

Well I don't have any suggestions but, I'm always on the lookout for a deal! I think it would be great to have a topic like that. I hope you decide to implement it.

Thanx...Dreadnaught

I think a classifieds section would be great!
Maybe a For sale section and a needed section?
just a thought

I cruise classifieds2000 a lot and things can get out of hand pretty fast. Would you want to exclude dealers? How would you tell a poster was not a dealer? If you start accumulating many posts you may find posters fooling with posting architecture. ntec.net was doing this at c2000 until they were bounced. You would have to police this. On the other hand many dealers are pretty well behaved and respect the posting environment.

It will take more of your time. Talk to the folks at Excite, they may have some clues for you. I'm already checking out the ads here.

Start using this site, and it will eventually identify the seller/buyers who can be trusted.

A classifieds section sounds like a great idea. Go for it.
