Aaaaaa, thats alot! Right now, the video, sound, and speakers are going to be replaced.... in a while. For now, the video will do right? I know its a GeForce 256, should I get the more expensive GeForce 2? The onboard sound will power the 19 dollar POS speaker system. How does that sound to you guys? Is my hard drive a newer one that will take advantage of my onboard ATA/66 controller? Is there a reason I should go for a cheaper case? What item should I remove to make it cheaper? I'm ordering on Thursday!!!! HELP!!!!

Well, ya could go for a slightly slower athlon, and buy a GFD.
And then clock it to the desired speed.

Also, 28 dollars for a floppy drive?? Come on, take a regular one, and paint it black.

And no, I don't think that ya should get the Gforce 2, for as far as I've heard it isn't worth the extra money over the regular gforce.
But ya could get a ddr ram version, they are a lot better then the sdram versions.

Hope this helps a little

Heheeh, how much slower can I take. And what is a GFD? I don't really want to overclock and I want it to be stable. I want my pc to be good for a few years. I should upgrade lots though. I mainly play Half-Life right now, including its mods. I will probably continue playing Half-Life 2 and all its mods, like Counter Strike when it comes out. Is the black CD drive I listed a good price? I have an old AT P133 with a 4x CD and a Floppy. Can I just use my old CD drive and just get a CD-RW or DVD later? I will get the GeForce then! What else?
Thanks,
JC

a GFD is a gold finger device used to OC and athlon CPU

i would get a Athlon 700 and OC it to say 900mhz

use the old floppy and paint it black
get a new CD u just cant have a 4x drive
also get a Geforce256 with DDR memory

Seriously, I really don't think I would be able to over clock. I don't want to screw up. I wouldn't be able to take the stress of laying my computer to rest. How does one go about painting a Floppy drive? Stick a floppy in and spray away? The only GeForce at Directron is a SDR, no DDR, should I still get it?

Also you can get a much better hdd for less money. You can get a Western Dig 15GB 7200 rpm starting at 91 at www.pricewatch.com/ (http://www.pricewatch.com/) I am a Maxtor hater basically. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif I also concur witht he above ideas.

get the vid card somwhere else rather then to get a much slower card

to paint the floppy
cover all holes and places where paint can enter the drive and then sprat away

those prices are excessively high for eveything. Have you thought about shipping yet? or is that already figured?

The reason the prices are so high is because all the options that were added. I added the dual cooling fans/heatsink, thermal grease for the Athlon, case fans, IDE cables, mounting screws..... you know all the parts I need to get it running. Anyway, this is the only place I know that ships to Guam. The only 7200 rpm drive there was the Maxtor(rest are sold out) and the only GeForce there was a SDR.

For todays games, you really don't need much more power than a K7-700 IMO, unless you want to run at super high 1600x1280 type resolutions.

Should I go for PC100? I was looking in PC Gamers Trinity High End computer and they used PC100, should I do the same or take advantage of my bus speeds? Then, what else confused me is that they used 2 video cards. A GeForce 256 and a Vodoo, why did they do this? If I do go with the overclocking, what speed is the best one to get? Please list links to Athlon Overclocking Pages. Also, when I finish biulding it, how do I burn it in?

Okay, I'm getting the AMD Athlon 750MHz for $216. Thats only 1 dollar more than the 700! Where do you get this GFD? And will it harm my CPU, is it reversible and can someone who doesn't know about o/c do it? I'm getting dual CPU cooling fans and thermal grease.

I know for a fact that there is a Geforce2 DDR 32mb. Go for it. I'm about to get one myself.

Why don't you go for the Thunderbird for your CPU, and try to find a SocketA motherboard. The Thunderbird has better gaming performance than the Athlon. Because of its full-speed cache, note the Athlon 750 has a slower cache speed than the Athlon 700, but since it's 1 dollar more expensive, why not get it??

Hu? the 750 has a slower cache? What does that mean and what will it do to my performance. How is the 700, 750,800 and 850? I think I will stick with Athlons. I first wanted to get an 850, should I still go for it or should I just get the 750?

It really doesn't matter since it is only a few MHz lower than the 700 version. Because the cache divider in the 750 is 2/5 instead of the normal 1/2 (500 to 700). Doesn't really matter, but the T-birds are better as they have full-speed cache running at full speed. And they o/c better too...

They used the voodoos because they're still powerful cards for glide apps, and some games, like unreal, do better on a voodoo PCI setup than on an AGP Geforce. Don't ask me why, probably the gaming engine.

-I'd stick with the Athlon 750.
-And get a 32x CD-ROM. Unless you sit at the computer while it copies files during an install, you won't notice a difference.
-Regular floppy, just as fast.
-Personally, I find Logitech's Wheel mouse just as fascinating as Microsoft Intellimouse, at nearly half the price.
-I'd go with 256mb of kingston memory for a strict gaming system. This could put you out of budget though. 128 is fine.

Just my two cents
