Which mode should I set my hd too in the UDMA properties screen? I have a Maxtor hd and using the Highpoint BIOS for udma. It has a few modes to choose from but I can't find anything at Maxtor or highpoint on what the difference between modes are.

Check this out: www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/if/ide/modes_PIO.htm (http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/if/ide/modes_PIO.htm) .

This link was plucked from a thread here at SysOpt that was found by a search engine when I used the words "udma modes". Not bad! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

If you have a mobo that supports UDMA, plus the 80-wire ribbon cable, and the UDMA HD, setting the Bios to Auto (CMOS) should set your computer to UDMA by itself... At least, that's been my experience.
