Hi thanks in advance http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
I recently installed the free isp Freewwweb on my girl friends compter that we have in another room in the house seperate than mine. At first I left her pay isp on the unit and left it as the secondary dial up.
I set up the outlook express with the two accounts and set up all the other numbers and such. She had some trouble herself with the two different dial up adapters. You know loging into to her to mail accounts and knowing which one she was reading or not. So I took out her other dial up adapter to her old ISP and left the one to freewwweb set up as the only dial up adapter and the only email accout. Now even when I try it I get the message below. Does anyone have a idea what I need to look at. I did tried to compare the settings in both units (her computer and mine) but I can not see any settings that are not the same. Freewwweb requires to take over your dial up homepage and I'm cool with that. My unit does have Ie5 and hers Ie4, and I was going to try to update hers from somewhere like cnet.com, but they require the home page to be changed and I'm not sure how this will effect the freewwweb Free service, because they say they require this to be set to them to have the free service. soory for the length and pleas just positive thoughts, you know just the pro's no con's....lol..... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Hi everyone. J/K any ideas
MESSAGE BEING GIVE WHEN TRYING TO SEND MAIL THROUGH IE4 AND THROUGH IT'S SEVER.?????
oh I'm going to leave this same post at a couple of sites we all go to, so don't think you are seeing double.

The host ‘stmp.freewwweb.com’ could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account ‘pop3.freewwweb.com’, Server: ‘stamp.freewwweb.com’, Protocol: SMTP, Port:25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket error 11001, Error Number 0x8999CCC0D

make sure the account is setup with the following server names. Try naming the POP3 server with the following prefix. "pop". Instead of pop3.freewwweb.com, name it pop.freewwweb.com, and for the SMTP server, name it smtp.freewwweb.com.. or you can check their site, it should have the proper server prefixes.

Hay thanks but I do have another unit in the house that is set and works. Well maybe not all the time I have at times gotten the same message or something close to it I just don't remember it now but will write it down the next time. I have compared the setting to the unit that works most of the time to the one that works hardly never and they are set the same. Taking in consideration the differances between the two versions of ie5 and and ie4 in outlook. In the one that works the mail sever is POP3 ,incoming mail server is a POP3 called pop3.freewwweb.com and outgoing is SMTP smtp.freewwweb.com and the connection is to freewwweb(tm) and the phone number is correct. thanks again http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
