i need a bootdisk for winME or win98 plz help

none of my CDz will boot and i only have OEM boot disks but i need a regular one

I'll make you one and send it to you if you want - I can make a clean Win98 one (just command.com), a Win95 one that has a few utilities on it or I can knock up a Dos6.22 floppy if you want.

all i really need i a boot disk so that i can remove my darn linux partiton and acces my CD-rom
i guess the dos6.22 would do it

Oh hang on a sec - I'm not sure if a standard Win98 or other boot disk with FDISK would do it - you see, FDISK doesn't like deleting partitions it doesn't know about, so you could have a problem. What release of linux were u usin'? I have a redhat (think it's 6.1) CD that should be able to delete partitions from within' the installer. How come your CDs arn't booting?

im using Mandrake linux 7.1
but i dont like it so i want to change to winME because my sister is gona have this comp and she does not know linux

so i need the boot disk to remove the partitons and install winME

First you will need to break the partition with diskdruid (linux's fdisk) Just leave the hd UNCONFIGURED. Then bootup with a Win98 boot disk. Fdisk /MBR THis will get the master boot record restored to one that Win9x can work with. Then go into Fdisk again and setup the partitions as you need them...exit out of fdisk reboot and then format the newly created partitions and you are now off to the races http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Ok, email me skywalker, I'll need your address, I can get you a Win98 bootdisk with CD support, FDISK, format, MSCDEX and all that is good on it - I'll need to use my cousings rig to make it. FDISK won't create NTFS partitions, but if WinME supports them, it should allow conversion of a FAT32 partition from the install. Hope it doesn't take too long for the disk to arrive.
