I have a small lan with 2 computers, the server is running win2k advanced server and the client is win2k pro. I have a domain called LAB and I am using active directory service. I created a new user account in the domain and attempted to log into the domain from the client machine but I got an error message as follows; "The system cannot log you on because the domain LAB is not available". Microsoft recomended that I should reinstall Rsaenh.dll and I did but it did not fix the problem. HELP!!!!

A Win2k Adv Server and Win2k client model relies heavily on DNS. Make sure DNS is running on your domain and make sure the client is set to use your server as the dns server.

Thanks a lot for your response. The dns is set up properly and name translation works fine because, I tested my name translation with dnslookup and it translated the names correctly. What else should I try?

Does the domain controller trust the client? Ie. is the client computer in the server manager. And no, I don't know whether this will correct anything. Just an idea http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

The client computer account was created in the server and that is why I was able to log into the domain with administrator's account but I cannot log on with the user account that I created.

Logon to the client with the administrator account as stated to be successfull.

Try adding the domain account to the clients local adminitrative group. Retry user login.

If you cannot add the domain account to the local administrative group of the client then (while still logged in as admin) try browsing the entire network to verify the domain is visable and browsable.
