i need a program that can compress the MP3 so it's smaller, and i'll have easier time putting it in a floppy. This will help me save time since I dont' have all these files after shredding them.

You won't get them any smaller unless you're willing to lose sound quality. In case you don't know, the average size of an uncompress music file (like how they are on a CD) is about 40-60MB. wtp 06-27-2000, 10:57 AM ooh. Thanx for the info, outpatient. 60MB, oh boy, that's pretty big. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif wtp Win_98 07-01-2000, 07:08 PM Yes mp3 is basically a compressed wav format say 10 times where a 44Kherz 1meg wav become 100Kbytes mp3... You can try decompressing to wav then back again as 56Kbps Mp3 files but it be horrible quality which not what ya want. I see you want to transfer that to your other computer eh? well use a parallel link cable, direct cable connection and transfer at 100K/sec or 1megabit/sec seti 07-01-2000, 08:04 PM You could use the vqf audio compression format. A vqf file is generally 25%-35% smaller. A 96kbps vqf is about the same, if not better sound quality as a 128kbps mp3. There's a plugin for winamp (here (http://www.vqf.com/count/clickout.php3?swid=1)). There's lots of vqf softwear here (http://www.vqf.com/software/). includeing encoders. Just a thought! I realize this probably wont help, but it's good for people to know about, if they don't already, anyway. I like it alot.........but there is not much support for it by the masses............ [This message has been edited by oblivion (edited 07-01-2000).] Warthog 07-01-2000, 09:30 PM It IS a super compressed wav file. Oblivion, I've heard of WMA many times. Never gave it much thought, though. I'll have to try it sometime. Warthog oblivion 07-01-2000, 11:48 PM Sounded great to me........my only problem is that I can seem to find any proggie that convert cda to wma......also napster does not support it ect It is propriatary(I know I just spelled that wrong http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif) so I guess others can support it....that sucks too...............oh well wheres mp4??? seti 07-01-2000, 11:57 PM Doesn't WMP7 have a WMA encoder?
