Someone please help! My computer is screwed!. All it does is a hear the computer booting up as normal, but i get no signal from the videocard and a long beep from the internal speaker, then a pause then another (it does this forever until you turn it off.. it is NOT a beep code) I've eliminated the video card because I have replaced it only to find the same thing happens! I've also tried unplugging all my drives and that does nothing. What is wrong?

sounds like the CPU or memory could be bad or not seated
check everything again

did you try the other video card in the same slot? there's a good possibility that you may have a toasted slot. check that out.

Thanks! It was the memory slightly fallen out! Now it turns on but both my harddrives fail.. they autodetect, but fail afterwords.. they are FIRMLY plugged in. (before i had this beeping problem i unplugged them both to swap them over (changing one from the master to the slave and vice versa) not realising the drive letter assignment would not reassaign itself. So i swapped them back, booted my computer, irt all worked fine. Reset it, then the harddrives both failed. Then reset it again, then i got the beep. I suspect it could be my cables in the CPU on the blink.. anyone have any ideas?

It wasn't the cable. Turns out the IDE 1 port on my MB was faulty. All back and working now! (Phew!) Thanks for all your help! Now i'm off to install win98 (fingers crossed it works!)
